Erika Hilton: Our Councilwoman, who makes us so proud in São Paulo, has continued our work, our legacy, has brought to the São Paulo City Council a political project of diversity, in favor of women, for citizenship, in defense of the rights of LGBTQIA+ populations, and has fought against racism, machismo and structural violence.
Erika Hilton: It is an honor and a joy for this House to receive the visit of the honorable Councilwoman and of all the Black women who today occupy the Esplanade of the Ministries to constitute a society without racism, without sexism, without machismo and without violence. Thank you, President.
Thank you, President. Well, I come to this podium today to salute, greet, and honor the historical legacy of Black women for a Brazil without racism, without violence, without misogyny.
Erika Hilton: It is 10 years of the Black Women's March, and the Esplanade of the Ministries is filled with the grit, boldness, courage, resilience, and strength of Black women for a better world, a better society, and better politics.
Erika Hilton: Today we salute our ancestors, we salute our dean, our teacher Deputy Benedita da Silva, but we also salute Lélia Gonzalez, Beatriz Nascimento, Carolina Maria de Jesus, Sueli Carneiro, Tereza de Benguela, Xica Manicongo, Marielle Franco, who was brutally executed in a Brazil that still kills, persecutes, attacks, and violates the bodies, history, territory and dignity of Black women in this country.
