Erika Hilton: This is the commission that must debate the human dignity of LGBT people, who suffer the highest levels of hatred, intolerance and brutal prejudice.
In the name of various pretexts, people are killed, raped, torn from their homes, taken from the bosom of their families, prevented from moving freely in society.
Erika Hilton: We have historic cases of many acts of violence: couples who were assaulted with... blows to the face, right on Avenida Paulista; travestis who had their hearts ripped out, and their perpetrators confessed and said they ripped out their heart because they were a travesti, because they were the devil, because they were evil; because what is ingrained in these people's heads, and what feeds society's hatred, are the speeches that are made here. You ladies say you are concerned, that you are against violence, that you are against whatever — what contribution have Your Excellencies made, and are making, in light of the data presented?
Erika Hilton: Brazil is the country in the world that kills the most LGBT people — who else?
