Nikolas Ferreira: We know... that it generates an absurd outrage, especially among fathers, mothers, all of us, because the case is extremely atypical.
Nikolas Ferreira: It is a mother who knew what was happening, a 35-year-old man who had sexual relations with a 12-year-old child — in other words, it is pedophilia; the law is very clear about this.
He used drugs in front of that child; there was even an exchange of providing basic food baskets, benefits to that mother, in a way that obviously created an alienation in that... in that child, that victim, and we need, obviously, to take measures.
Nikolas Ferreira: And this appellate judge, who was the rapporteur of this case, another appellate judge from that panel voted in agreement, and another appellate judge was totally opposed to this case, but with a majority of votes this was passed on and is now going to the higher instance; I hope this is reversed.
Nikolas Ferreira: But the truth is that, in the first instance, both the mother and this criminal were sentenced to nine years in prison.
