Renan Santos: Other nations, for example in East Asia, also have very harsh laws against organized crime and, despite having been poor for a long time, show quality of life and homicide and robbery figures much lower than Brazil's.
So, going down that path — and I can talk about nations larger than El Salvador, I can talk about China, which is gigantic, which has criminal laws almost as harsh as El Salvador's in a state of exception — shows that we have this path of confrontation.
Renan Santos: The issue is that we are simply not trying.
