Sérgio Moro: Mr. President, I just want to record that I reported on this bill, which is from Federal Deputy Carlos Jordy, Bill 5,391 of 2020, and, to make it easy to understand, this bill sends a message to the world of crime, to organized crime especially: whoever commits an attack, murders a police officer — what they call in the movies, Senator Jayme Campos, a 'cop killer,' killer of police officers — will serve the sentence in a federal maximum-security penitentiary, 22 hours in an individual cell per day, with only two hours of recreation outside the individual cell.
Sérgio Moro: A harsh imprisonment regime, yes, but a necessary one for someone who has the audacity to murder a police officer.
So, we need to be rigorous on this matter.
Sérgio Moro: We made slight modifications to the text and it now returns to the Chamber of Deputies to, probably, have the modifications confirmed, which do not materially alter the merits.
Sérgio Moro: I would also like to register my compliments to Deputy Carlos Jordy, who brought this matter.
