Kim Kataguiri: We had this controversy recently in the world of games, of companies ending physical media.
Kim Kataguiri: For some time, we have been discussing the arbitrary shutdown of servers.
Companies do not make it clear to the consumer that they are not selling the game itself, but rather temporarily granting a license for that game to be used by the purchaser.
Kim Kataguiri: So the bill establishes a minimum period of 2 years for server maintenance, patches, regular bug and error fixes, and requires a 180-day prior notice before that server is shut down and the user loses access to that game.
Kim Kataguiri: From that shutdown, the platform will have some options: it can provide the game 100% offline, that is, allow the player to keep playing without the server; make available the server infrastructure so that the community itself can maintain its servers independently of that company.
